Take Care of Texas Award

This is a new partnership of the Capitol Area Council and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, and recognizes Scouts and Scouters who have made a contribution to maintaining the natural beauty of Texas through conservation activities.  
To earn the Take Care of Texas Award as a Scout,
a)  Register for the Hornaday Weekend and document you have completed three of the following merit badges:  Environmental Science, Soil and Water Conservation, Energy, Fish and Wildlife Management, Forestry, Gardening, Plant Science and Oceanography.    
b)  Register for the Sunday morning Conservation Service Project from 8:30 - 10:30 am.


To earn the Take Care of Texas Award as an Adult,
a) Register for the Hornaday Weekend and participate in the Saturday AND Sunday Conservation Service projects.  

b)  Complete a short essay on your conservation efforts.
